My ink cartridge is going through motions of printing but no ink coming out...

This is usually caused by you not removing the tab from the top of the ink, this is usually yellow and allows air into the cartridge, if this is not removed then air cannot travel through and the ink is trapped.

Failing this your printer ink nozzles might be blocked and usually 2 or 3 head cleans will sort this out.

If this still fails to work then one good way to unblock is to get some alcohol based spirit (even Vodka) and put on a cotton bud and dab inside the printer where the ink cartridge is pierced, this should dissolve any blockages.

Failing this and your printer is old then why not buy a new one, we have plenty of choice on below link
